  Monica Riojas 4/3/2018  First Week of Instruction Day 1 7.1A and 7.1B Objective: TLW learn problem solving model and how to convert fractions, percentages, improper fractions and mixed numbers. 1. 2. Convert a percentage to a fraction and vice versa. Convert a mixed number to an improper fraction. Activity: Have a true or false small group game over #2. Day 2 7.1A, 7.1B, and 7.2A Objective: TLW determine equivalence of numbers and order given numbers in chronological order. TLW will also be able to identify rational numbers and their subsets (integers, whole numbers and natural numbers). Activity:    Order given numbers in chronological order on number line.    Create a Venn diagram of rational numbers.    Have students classify given numbers as rational, integers, whole numbers or natural numbers. Day 3 7.1D, 7.1C, and 7.3A Objective: TLW add and subtract fractions, mixed numbers, and decimals. 1.   Go over rules to adding and subtracting fractions, decimals and mixed numbers. 2.   Go over several examples of each. *Include word problems. Understand what the problem is asking. Plan and think about how to solve the problem. Solve Problem. Check your answer. Make sure it makes sense.  Activity:    Students will work on a maze handout. There will be three different versions of the handout. Day 4 7.1D, 7.1C, and 7.1A Objective: TLW multiply rational numbers. 1.   Go over rules and give several examples. Activity:    Students will solve some problems in pairs of two. Then I will go over the problems with the class.    Have students start on their homework. Day 5 7.1D, 7.1C, and 7.3A Objective: TLW divide rational numbers. 1.   Go over rules and work examples out with student participation. Activity:    Handout task cards. Give students 3 minutes to solve and record answer on their handout. Have them move to next card.
