  • 3. 33 Role of the Assistant Education Officer1 Assistant Education Officer (AEO) is: • A mobile administrator who supervises the performance of schools in his markaz. • Each AEO is assigned between 15 to 22 schools, collectively called a markaz, for routine supervision and management. • An AEO is judged on the performance of his/her markaz across a combination of access and quality indicators. • He/she must perform the following five core functions: What is the AEO expected to do? I. Ensure quality education is being delivered II. Improve functionality of schools in their markaz III. Implement SED initiatives on the field IV. Maintain administrative and financial record V. Community mobilization for school improvement
