Learning a programming language is similar to learning to be a chef or learning to play a musical instrument. Explain that a C++ program is essentially a collection of one or more subprograms, called functions. Note that although many functions are predefined in the C++ library,  programmers must learn how to write their own functions to accomplish specific tasks. 2. Define the terms  syntax rules and  semantic rules as they relate to a programming language and explain the difference between the two. Teaching    Tip  Emphasize that compilers check for syntax but not semantic errors. Give an example of each type of error.   Comments  1. Use the program in Example 2-1 to describe the use and importance of comments. Stress that comments are for the reader, not for the compiler. 2.
