HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY — SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45  A  . M . † Focus Verse (keep a Promise Journal  as you read!)—Prayer Diary link available online at http://www.hbcbluesprings.org/prayer-diary/   MONDAY—EVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 7; 1 Chronicles 17; Psalms 1 2; 33; 127;132 Monday, April 30 † Acts 22:15  For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard. Merciful Lord and Savior:  You chose Paul the apostle to see and hear you speak from heaven. That  was a great privilege, but you did not intend for it to end with him! You still want the intense personal experience of Christ to have an influence on others. So it is that I pray for your help to reach the lost this week, even before next Sunday.  This is what impact  is. When I beg you to let me have an impact on people at work, in my family, or in the community, I am asking you to let me influence them toward Christ . I can only do that if I am faithful—like Paul—to testify of that which you have personally shown me. I need to give a witness of how I got saved, and tie it to the gospel! It is my story, and I cannot keep it to myself. ã   First, let me see and hear and be saved, so I have something to say ã    Then, make me both eager and bold to bear witness to what I have seen and understood, to __________ and to __________ ! I know it must be a personal testimony—  For thou  shalt be… ! I know it must be testifying about Christ—  … his  witnesses… ! I know it must be consistent and all-absorbing—  …unto all  men… Make me a witness above anything else (and to the exclusion of many other things). Let people know me for my testimony. Help me use the opportunity of next Sunday’s sermon and clear presentation of truth, to overcome the fear of being personally rejected. Give me boldness to go to all   within my reach. Help me not be silent, but  preach to reach each . Do not let me miss the promise in the command of Acts 22:15. Fulfill your word to me for Jesus’ sake! Amen  TUESDAY—FOCUS ON CHRIST’S MIRACLES Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 8 9; 1 Chronicles 18   Tuesday, May 1 Matt. 8:27  But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him! Marvelous Master: I thank you that your loving heart does not rest if your children are in danger. It is only because there is now no danger that you sit at the right hand of God the Father, so much at peace. But as for me, sometimes I get so low I think I’m going to die. But die as I might, I can never go any lower, and in due time even my body will bounce-back from the grave! Sometimes I think I’m the  world’s worst sinner. But sin as I might, my case only presents you with an opportunity to excel above anything you have ever done, and you delight in that! Micah 7:18  Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.  To me, my sin is like Samson: it will not be bound even with new cords. Like the maniac at Gadara, my inner personal corruptions break loose from all restraint. Yes Satan, you have proved me a sinner—but that is my hope for grace! Other times Lord, I know I am not humble enough. Some sinners weep but I cannot; I wish I did more often. Yet even  weeping  for my failures would not help you save  me from them. Stony-hearted as I am, I am only alive by your life, righteous by Christ’s righteousness, and made more holy by your Holy Spirit.  There is nothing good in me; yet sanctification is not by suppression of the flesh , it is all of grace in Christ. Give me more of him! I look to him to be Omega as well as Alpha, and finisher of my lusts as well as author of salvation. Do not let sin smolder in my heart any longer. Drive away all my unbelief, and to your name will be the glory and praise forever and ever. Amen!  WEDNESDAY—REVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 10; 1 Chronicles 19; Psalms 20; 53; 60; 75  Wednesday, May 2 Isa. 44:3b  I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: Eternal God and Glorious Lord: My children do not have the Spirit of God by nature (which is often embarrassingly obvious). I see so much in my kids that makes me fear for their future, and drives me to deeper prayer. I feel like crying with Abraham, Oh, that Ishmael might live before thee!   I would rather see my daughters be Hannahs than be  TV stars, and my boys be Samuels than sports idols. This verse from Isaiah encourages me, because it follows right after the words, Isa. 44:2  Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen. Lord, give us your Spirit in revival! Give it to us abundantly! Pour it on our families at Harvest! Let it flow successfully to make real and eternal fruit, fixing our dysfunction. Under that divine outpouring may our children step up and, Isa. 44:5  One shall say, I am the Lord’s; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.  At set times and specific ways, I must pray for the children of members in our church. Not even their own parents can give them new hearts Lord, but the Holy Spirit can!—and he is easily entreated for this cause. Lord, take pleasure in my prayer for a revival that begins with me and spreads to my physical offspring. Let the adults be revived so the children may turn from rebellion! If there are any parents with children still “outside the ark”, let me not rest in prayer till I have heard they are shut-in with us by the Lord’s own hand. Help us see many HarvestKids  and Youth be saved. For we ask it in Jesus’ name and to his glory.  A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalms 65 67; 69 70   Thursday, May 3 John 6:53  Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the  flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. R  ESCUE  the perishing, care for the dying, Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;  Weep o’er the erring one, lift up the fallen,  Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.  Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting,  Waiting the penitent child to receive; Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently; He will forgive if they only believe. Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter, Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;  Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness, Chords that were broken will vibrate once more. Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,  Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.  —Fanny Crosby, 1869 !    FRIDAY— CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 11-12; 1 Chronicles 20; Psalms 51  Friday, May 4 2 Sam. 7:1  And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had  given him rest round about from all his enemies; O God Our Father!  A thousand and one things comprise the ministries of our church, our adult classes, our Youth, our HarvestKids , our Institute and our missionaries abroad. Bless and prosper everything according to your mind and your will. Give us prayer in proportion to our activity, and faith in proportion to our ministry!  Visit us now; the nature of spiritual warfare is that we cannot see the peril in advance. May nothing happen to break the bond of peace we enjoy in our church, or the momentum of your Spirit. Establish a firm foundation of faith. Revive your mercy to us today, and our love for the pure gospel of Jesus Christ, as we hear it preached this Sunday. Bless our jobs, let the spirit of Christ permeate our relationships, and flow down even into the darkest heart. Rebuke those who seek to mar and spoil our witness. Give us wisdom for our reactions, since philosophy and vain deceit attack us on all sides. Let everything we do be ordered for your glory today. Let people praise you because of us. Make the power of the gospel felt even more and more. Bless my brothers and sisters who minister across the sea or in any other country. They worship you in spirit and truth with the same desire I do. There are saints scattered in every nation. Visit us with the fullness of your Spirit, so the garden of the Lord will be green even in the desert of foreign lands. Help them and us give the lost a sense of what it is to have sins forgiven. Give us a powerful sanctification so we will be kept from the influence of temptation. Sink truth into our souls, and let us live to the Eternal Purpose of God, and reach others with the gospel for Jesus’ sake. Amen. SATURDAY—IN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Psalms 32; 86; 102 103; 122  Saturday, May 5 Psa. 46:1  God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. O Lord and Mighty Redeemer: Not only do you give me power for what I have to do, but you guarantee me assistance in those times I cannot act alone. So Lord, you must help me today! I need strength  within  to be supplemented by aid  without  —from somebody. I thank you Lord for raising-up allies out of our church for me. So many times you send me human assistance through disciplers or counselors or comrades. But you yourself are at my side by your Spirit, and this is better still! !    Your help is timely   Isa. 41:10  …yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. !    Your help is  wise   Gen. 2:18  And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. !    Your help is effective   Psa. 60:11  Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. !    Your help is more than help, because you bear all the burdens of success, and supply all needs along the way, Heb. 13:6  So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Since you have already been my help and saved me, I feel confident as your child. My  prayer  is, Lord, be thou my helper  . My experience  is, The Spirit also helpeth mine infirmities  . My expectation  is, I will lift up mine eyes to the hills whence cometh my help . And my song  shall be, Thou, Lord, hast helped me  . Help me connect that testimony to your gospel as my witness to the word of your grace. Amen!    HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY — SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45  A  . M . Prayer Diary link available online at http://www.hbcbluesprings.org/prayer-diary/ H  ARVEST B  APTIST C HURCH   HOW TO BUILD A BALANCED LIFE 1)    TIME—WORSHIP Mark 1:35  And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template   for daily devotions. 2)    TITHE—WORK 1 Cor 16:2  Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLAR—no questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3)    TEAM—WORD Heb 10:25  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship  with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church. Q UALITY C HRISTIANITY I NVOLVES  T HREE  T HINGS   !   Keeping Christ at the center (your core  relationship of worship  to God) !   Keeping the body of Christ a priority (your congregational  relationship of walking   with us) !   Basing beliefs and actions on the mind of Christ (your church  relationship in the Word   )  A PRIL 29,   2017  THIS WEEK’S CARE PRAYER LIST Please submit prayer requests and updates online at hbcbluesprings.org or by placing a prayer card in the offering plate. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over.  This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically   in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.  —Alan Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. “Oh,” says one, “I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer.” And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into God’s presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayer—the posture, the time, place—rather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
