  Introduction Human Resource Management (HRM) is a core discipline, which deals withmanaging the work force in such a way as to maximize the output of theorganization. It starts with the selection and recruitment of employees, its trainingand development, maintaining a consistent compensation package for the employeesand to take many other initiatives to reduce the absenteeism and to motivate theemployees. In the early days employees were treated as simply workers who willabide by the order of the employee ignoring the human side of the workers. As aresult, the outputs of the organization were not maximized. Then more emphasis isgiven to improve the condition of the workers for motivating them towards work.This work force is treated as asset in today’s organization.One of the primary jobs of HRM is the formulation of a  selection and recruitment  policy commensurate with the organizational policy and mission of theorganization. Induction of new employee to an organization is a vital issue. Underqualified recruited employees may jeopardize the objectives of the organization. If everything regarding induction of new employee is clearly spelt out in the selectionand recruitment policy then the chance of recruiting under qualified employee isless. 2  Another major area of HRM is the training and development  of the employees.Actually training can sharpen the know how of an employee. Need for training maystart with the new recruitment of the employee and continue till the retirement of the employee. Continuous training and development of the employee can helporganization to achieve its goals. 3  HSBC Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank Corporation (HSBC) is the second largecommercial bank which is operating worldwide. It has business operation in 81countries round the world. This bank is divided in four different regions. Accordingto its geographic location these divisions are USA, Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific.More than 8000 thousand people are working in these regions.It is operating in Bangladesh since 1996. It is doing its operation in Bangladeshcalled “Dhaka Operation”  which is known as “Asia Pacific Dhaka”  all over theworld. It has three main branches in Bangladesh. They are known as AnchorBranch, Chittagong Branch and Dhanmondi Branch. Among them DhanmondiBranch has been newly launched. They have two financial booths in Motijheel andin Banani. Around 300 staffs are working for this bank all over Bangladesh.HSBC is a very much future oriented banking corporation, which is highlyorganized, and employee oriented. They value their employee first. People love towork in this organization because they know that HSBC gives them the authority totake decisions on their own. And this authority comes to them through the highlystructured and well-designed training programs.
